Susan Wessel (BA, Smith College; JD, MTS, Harvard University; STM, Union Theological Seminary in New York; PhD, Columbia University) is Associate Professor of Church History and Historical Theology and the area director of Church History.  She has published widely in the fields of early Christianity and Patristics on such topics as compassion, the passions and the emotions, moral ethics, memory, forgery, and the formation of doctrine. 

The author of Passion and Compassion in Early Christianity, Dr. Wessel is currently working on the phenomenon of healing in the early Christian world.
