Catholic-Orthodox event at CUA
On February 26, STRS hosted the Orthodox Clergy Brotherhood of the DC area. Present were 15 Orthodox clergy serving Orthodox communities in the DC Metropolitan area: Msgr. Paul McPartlan, Acting Dean; Professors Nelson Minnich, Robin Darling Young, and Rev. Stefanos Alexopoulos of STRS; and Fr. Robert Hitchens and Fr. Wasyl Kharuk of St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Seminary. Msgr. McPartlan gave a talk on "Catholic-Orthodox Dialogue and the Issue of Primacy", and shared his experience as a member of the international Catholic-Orthodox dialogue. An open and sincere exchange followed. The meeting sought to highlight and foster the historical links between the Orthodox Church in the USA and CUA. A number of graduates from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of the Theology in Boston and St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary in New York completed their doctoral work here at CUA and now serve the Orthodox Church in a variety of capacities. It is hoped that further such events will take place.
