Bachelor of Arts (BA) & Master of Arts (MA) Joint Program in Theology and Religious Studies

TRS Majors who wish to earn a Master's degree can apply in their junior year for this accelerated dual degree program to earn both the B.A. and M.A. in five years. Usually for a student interested in pursuing teaching, ministry, or graduate studies, this program enables a student to complete both degrees in less time and for less tuition.

Accepted B.A./M.A. students take four TRS courses during their undergraduate years at the 600-level. These graduate courses are applied to both B.A. and M.A. degrees, resulting in a quicker completion time.

The application for the B.A./M.A. is easier than the usual M.A. application, requiring no fee, no letters of recommendation, and no GRE score (though these latter are due during senior year).

Student Profile

I wanted to study Theology at CUA because I wanted to learn more about my religion from the best Catholic scholars in the country. Not only is the BA/MA financially advantageous, since I'll receive a two year Master's education in one year, it will also make me stand out to potential employers when I begin looking for a job.  Those of us who apply for the BA/MA at CUA are committed, passionate, and driven students who want to make the most of our CUA Theology education.
