Biography
Tarmo Toom is a native of Estonia. He has studied theology in Switzerland and the United States, obtaining his Ph.D. from the CUA in Historical Theology. In 2004-2008, he was an Associate Professor of Divinity in the John Leland Center for Theological Studies. He is a member of the North American Patristics Society, a member of the Steering Committee for Augustine and Augustinianisms Group for AAR, and a Regular Contributor to Reviews in Religion and Theology. He has authored two books: Thought Clothed with Sound: Augustine's Christological Hermeneutics in De doctrina Christiana (Peter Lang, 2002) and Classical Trinitarian Theology: A Textbook (T&T Clark, 2007). He has contributed articles to reference works, such as The Blackwell Encyclopaedia of Theologians (Blackwell, 2009), The New Westminster Dictionary of Church History (Westminster John Knox, 2009), and the Encyclopaedia of Eastern Orthodox Christianity (Blackwell, forthcoming). His works have been translated into German and Spanish.
